Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure underground materials are extracted safely and efficiently.
- Assess the feasibility and potential commercial viability of new mining sites.
- Identify and evaluate extraction risks.
- Produce models or plans for potential mining sites.
- Plan and implement effective extraction systems.
- Utilize specialist computer software to optimize planning and production.
- Monitor and evaluate open-pit mining performance.
- Ensure all operations comply with health and safety regulations.
- Ensure that mining equipment is safe and properly maintained.
- Monitor and maintain mining equipment to reduce downtime and improve operational efficiency.
- Train, supervise, and coordinate the activities of mining staff.
- Liaise with and advise managerial and technical personnel.
- Track and analyze production performance, identifying areas for improvement.
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports on mining activities, production, and resource utilization.
- Analyze geological and geotechnical data to inform and optimize mining operations.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a similar area of study (Advanced Degree is an added advantage)
- 7-10 years’ work experience in the mining industry
- Demonstrable ability to use mining tools and equipment
- Experience in management & supervisory role
- Excellent communication (Written & Verbal)
- Computer Skills; MS Office, ability to work with GPS and relevant technical software applications.
