Chief Operating Officer

Job Summary:

The COO will be a key member of the executive team, responsible for establishing and scaling Battregen’s operational infrastructure in Nigeria. This role demands a strategic leader with a strong understanding of the local business environment, supply chain logistics, and regulatory landscape. The COO will be instrumental in building a robust operational framework, ensuring quality service delivery, and driving the company’s growth across Nigeria and West Africa.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement operational strategies tailored to the Nigerian market, addressing local challenges and opportunities.
    1. Establish and manage all operational functions, including battery collection, regeneration, quality control, logistics, and customer service.
    1. Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to the Nigerian context.
    1. Build and maintain strong relationships with local suppliers, partners, and regulatory bodies.
    1. Establish and optimize the battery regeneration process, ensuring efficiency and quality.
    1. Manage inventory and production planning, considering the unique challenges of the Nigerian supply chain.
    1. Implement and maintain quality control procedures to meet international standards.
    1. Ensure the safe handling and processing of batteries, adhering to environmental regulations.
    1. Develop and manage a robust supply chain for battery collection and distribution across Nigeria and West Africa.
    1. Establish efficient logistics networks, considering transportation challenges and infrastructure limitations.
    1. Negotiate and manage contracts with local suppliers and logistics providers.
    1. Develop a strong reverse logistics program for used batteries.
    1. Ensure compliance with all relevant Nigerian environmental and safety regulations.
    1. Implement and maintain quality management systems to ensure consistent service delivery.
    1. Establish and maintain strong safety protocols.
    1. Recruit, train, and manage a high-performing operations team, utilizing local talent.
    1. Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
    1. Provide coaching and mentoring to team members, supporting their professional development.
    1. Develop and manage the operational budget, considering the local economic conditions.
    1. Implement cost-saving measures to improve profitability.
    1. Monitor and analyze operational expenses, providing regular reports to the CEO.
    1. Promote Battregen’s services and build brand awareness in the Nigerian market.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in operations management, preferably in Nigeria or West Africa.
  • Strong understanding of the Nigerian business environment, supply chain logistics, and regulatory landscape.
  • Proven track record of building and scaling operations in a challenging environment.
  • Experience in battery technology or related industries is highly desirable.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Strong understanding of local Nigerian business practices.
