Job Summary:
The COO will be a key member of the executive team, responsible for establishing and scaling Battregen’s operational infrastructure in Nigeria. This role demands a strategic leader with a strong understanding of the local business environment, supply chain logistics, and regulatory landscape. The COO will be instrumental in building a robust operational framework, ensuring quality service delivery, and driving the company’s growth across Nigeria and West Africa.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement operational strategies tailored to the Nigerian market, addressing local challenges and opportunities.
- Establish and manage all operational functions, including battery collection, regeneration, quality control, logistics, and customer service.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to the Nigerian context.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local suppliers, partners, and regulatory bodies.
- Establish and optimize the battery regeneration process, ensuring efficiency and quality.
- Manage inventory and production planning, considering the unique challenges of the Nigerian supply chain.
- Implement and maintain quality control procedures to meet international standards.
- Ensure the safe handling and processing of batteries, adhering to environmental regulations.
- Develop and manage a robust supply chain for battery collection and distribution across Nigeria and West Africa.
- Establish efficient logistics networks, considering transportation challenges and infrastructure limitations.
- Negotiate and manage contracts with local suppliers and logistics providers.
- Develop a strong reverse logistics program for used batteries.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant Nigerian environmental and safety regulations.
- Implement and maintain quality management systems to ensure consistent service delivery.
- Establish and maintain strong safety protocols.
- Recruit, train, and manage a high-performing operations team, utilizing local talent.
- Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to team members, supporting their professional development.
- Develop and manage the operational budget, considering the local economic conditions.
- Implement cost-saving measures to improve profitability.
- Monitor and analyze operational expenses, providing regular reports to the CEO.
- Promote Battregen’s services and build brand awareness in the Nigerian market.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in operations management, preferably in Nigeria or West Africa.
- Strong understanding of the Nigerian business environment, supply chain logistics, and regulatory landscape.
- Proven track record of building and scaling operations in a challenging environment.
- Experience in battery technology or related industries is highly desirable.
