Job Purpose:
The Material Planning Officer is responsible for ensuring the timely and efficient planning, procurement, and availability of materials to meet production and operational requirements. This role involves forecasting material needs, coordinating with suppliers, and optimizing inventory levels to support business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Material Planning & Forecasting
- Develop and maintain material requirement plans based on production schedules and demand forecasts.
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure optimal stock availability to prevent shortages or excess inventory.
- Analyze consumption patterns and adjust material planning strategies accordingly.
2. Supplier Coordination & Procurement Support
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials while maintaining quality standards.
- Monitor supplier performance and escalate issues related to delays, quality, or cost discrepancies.
- Assist in negotiating contracts and purchase agreements with suppliers.
- Maintain accurate records of material orders, deliveries, and stock levels.
- Inventory & Cost Management
- Track and control material costs, identifying opportunities for cost savings.
- Implement inventory optimization strategies to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
- Conduct regular stock audits and reconcile discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations in material planning and procurement.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in material planning, inventory management, or procurement.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in demand forecasting and supply chain analysis.
- Proficiency in material planning software (e.g., SAP or similar tools).
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
