Job Summary
To lead, develop, and implement a robust HSE management system that ensures compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and company policies. The Head, HSE will oversee all HSE activities, promote a strong safety culture, and minimize risks to personnel, the environment, and the company’s assets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and strategic direction to the HSE team, ensuring alignment with the organization’s overall objectives.
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive HSE management systems, aligning with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Establish and manage an on-site mineral testing laboratory, including standard operating procedures and personnel management.
- Develop and implement comprehensive waste management and waste-to-cash initiatives.
- Design and execute land reclamation plans to restore mined areas to a stable and productive state.
- Conduct risk assessments, hazard analyses, and site inspections to identify potential safety and environmental hazards.
- Lead HSE training programs, incident investigations, and emergency response planning.
- Ensure compliance with all required HSE regulations and manage relationships with regulatory agencies and external stakeholders.
- Foster a strong safety culture through proactive communication and leadership.
- Investigate incidents and accidents, implement corrective and preventive actions, and ensure timely reporting.
- Review and analyze reports from key functional HSE unit managers and provide comprehensive and data-driven reports, along with actionable insights and recommendations, to the Executive Management on a regular basis.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in HSE management roles in the mining industry.
- Proven track record of success in developing and implementing HSE programs.
