Assistant General Manager

Job Summary:
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) – Battregen is responsible for executing daily operations in line with strategic plans set by the General Manager. This includes overseeing battery intake, refurbishment, quality control, and dispatch processes. The AGM ensures operational efficiency, monitors KPIs, drives continuous improvement, and enforces safety and compliance standards. The role also involves managing teams, optimizing resources, and maintaining production targets to support overall plant performance and service quality.
Key Responsibilities:

  1. Operational Planning & Execution:
    a. Translate the strategic operational plan and framework provided by the General Manager into detailed daily, weekly, and monthly execution plans.
    b. Oversee all core plant operations, including battery intake, diagnostics, refurbishment processes, quality checks, and final dispatch.
    c. Ensure operational activities are executed efficiently, on schedule, and within the established procedural guidelines.
    d. Implement operational policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) as directed by senior leadership.
  2. Performance Management & Monitoring:
    a. Monitor key operational performance indicators (KPIs) related to production output, cycle time, efficiency, waste reduction, and resource utilization against targets set within the General Managers framework.
    b. Analyze operational data to identify performance gaps, bottlenecks, and areas for tactical improvement.
    c. Prepare and present regular operational performance reports to the General Manager.
    d. Drive continuous improvement initiatives at the operational level to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  3. Quality Assurance & Compliance Implementation:
    a. Oversee the implementation and daily adherence to Battregen’s Quality Management System (QMS) and specific quality control procedures on the plant floor.
    b. Ensure refurbished batteries consistently meet the required quality standards before leaving the plant.
    c. Manage the implementation of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures within the plant, ensuring a safe working environment.
    d. Support certification processes and ensure ongoing compliance with relevant regulations and standards during daily operations.
  4. Resource Management & Optimization:
    a. Manage day-to-day operational resources, including staffing levels, equipment availability, and material flow, to meet production demands efficiently.
    b. Oversee operational expenditures within the approved budget, identifying opportunities for cost savings and waste reduction.
    c. Coordinate with Supply Chain and logistics for timely availability of necessary parts and consumables.
    d. Manage plant maintenance schedules to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
  5. Team Leadership & Coordination:
    a. Lead, manage, and motivate operational supervisors, team leads, and frontline staff.
    b. Conduct performance reviews, identify training needs, and foster skill development within the operations team.
    c. Ensure effective communication and coordination between different operational shifts and departments.
    d. Resolve operational issues and conflicts promptly and effectively.
  6. Operational Risk Management & Safety:
    a. Implement operational risk mitigation procedures and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
    b. Oversee incident reporting and investigation processes for any operational or safety events.
    c. Promote a strong safety culture throughout the operations team.
    Qualifications & Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical), Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in operations management, preferably within a manufacturing, remanufacturing, technical service, or automotive environment.
    • Proven experience in managing production processes, quality control, and operational teams.
    • Strong understanding of operational KPIs, process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean principles), and performance management.
    • Experience with implementing and managing Quality Management Systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and HSE standards.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams in a fast-paced operational setting.
    • Experience with budget management and resource optimization at an operational level.
    • Excellent problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills.
    • Proficiency in relevant operational software and MS Office Suite.
