JOB SUMMARY
The Inventory Officer is responsible for managing and overseeing the inventory levels of the organization. This includes recording new stock, maintaining stock levels, conducting audits, and ensuring that all inventory-related documentation is accurate and up to date.
Job Description – Inventory Officer
- Assist in the documentation of all items received (Abuja/Kogi and local), ensuring accuracy and compliance with company standards.
- Support the preparation and validation of Goods Received Notes (GRNs) for Abuja and locally purchased items, ensuring timely approval and proper filing.
- Record items received against purchase orders on SAP, verifying packing and documentation in line with inventory control procedures.
- Ensure invoices and signed GRNs are correctly attached on SAP before submission to Finance and relevant departments.
- Notify appropriate departments of items received to facilitate smooth operations.
- Carry out binning and proper placement of items on shelf locations, ensuring systematic organization and easy retrieval.
- Raise and register memos for needed store items in alignment with procurement and operational requirements.
- Prepare periodic inventory reports (weekly, monthly), highlighting stock levels and variances for review by management.
- Ensure compliance with inventory management policies and procedures, supporting audit readiness and risk control.
- Provide support to senior inventory staff and contribute to continuous improvement in store operations.
- Perform any other task(s) assigned by the Store Manager or Head of Department, in line with operational needs.
Baseline Competency Requirements – Inventory Officer
- B.Sc / HND in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field
- Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in inventory management or store operations
- Basic knowledge of inventory control systems and ERP platforms (e.g., SAP)
- Ability to maintain accurate records and handle sensitive information with integrity
- Good written and verbal communication skills for effective reporting and coordination with departments
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with a focus on accuracy and efficiency
- Attention to detail in documentation, reconciliation, and reporting
- Analytical and problem-solving ability to identify variances and support corrective actions
- Ability to follow instructions and implement directives from senior management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other inventory management tools
