HSE Field Officer

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a qualified HSE Field Officer to promote occupational health and safety across our field operations. The role involves enforcing HSE policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with legislation, conducting inspections, investigating incidents, and coordinating emergency preparedness activities. The officer will also deliver tailored HSE training, monitor environmental conditions, and support the implementation of ISO 9001 QMS standards to align with organizational safety and quality goals.

Job Description – HSE Field Officer

  1. Promote occupational health and safety by implementing safer and healthier work practices through the development and enforcement of field-level HSE policies, procedures, and systems.
  2. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation across all field operations, including equipment usage and workplace activities.
  3. Investigate field-related incidents and unsafe conditions, analyze root causes, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  4. Develop and deliver HSE training modules tailored to field operations, covering safety practices, emergency procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  5. Support emergency preparedness in the field by coordinating drills, mine rescue teams, fire response units, and first aid crews.
  6. Maintain regular communication with site management to report on HSE performance, risk mitigation strategies, and compliance status.
  7. Conduct weekly and monthly HSE inspections at field locations, documenting findings and ensuring timely resolution of identified issues.
  8. Monitor environmental conditions such as weather and rainfall that may impact field safety and operational planning.
  9. Coordinate implementation of ISO 9001 QMS standards within field operations, ensuring alignment with organizational quality and safety goals.
  10. Perform any other HSE-related tasks assigned by the HSE Officer or Executive Management.

Baseline Competency Requirements – HSE Field Officer

  • B.Sc / HND in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in HSE field operations, preferably within industrial, mining, or construction environments
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations, including local and international standards
  • Ability to conduct field inspections, incident investigations, and risk assessments independently
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency in developing and delivering HSE training modules
  • Ability to coordinate emergency preparedness activities, including drills and response teams
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail in documentation and compliance tracking
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HSE management systems
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to dynamic field conditions
  • Demonstrated integrity and discretion in handling sensitive safety information
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate across departments and levels
