Job Summary

The Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of a company’s fleet of vehicles. This includes planning, organizing, and controlling all aspects of fleet maintenance, vehicle acquisition, and driver management. The Fleet Manager ensures that the fleet is operating efficiently, safely, and cost-effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement a comprehensive fleet management plan.
    1. Monitor fleet performance and identify areas for improvement.
    1. Analyze vehicle usage data to optimize fleet size and composition.
    1. Manage vehicle acquisition, disposal, and replacement processes.
    1. Oversee vehicle maintenance and repair schedules.
    1. Ensure adherence to safety standards and regulations.
    1. Negotiate contracts with service providers and suppliers.
    1. Manage fleet maintenance budgets.
    1. Train, and supervise drivers.
    1. Ensure compliance with driving regulations and company policies.
    1. Manage driver performance and disciplinary actions.
    1. Monitor driver hours of service and fatigue management.
    1. Develop and manage fleet operating budgets.
    1. Track and analyze fleet costs, including fuel, maintenance, insurance, and depreciation.
    1. Prepare regular fleet performance reports.
    1. Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and industry standards.
    1. Implement safety programs and initiatives.
    1. Investigate and address safety incidents.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in transportation management, logistics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in fleet management or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of fleet management principles, practices, and technologies.
  • Proven ability to manage and lead teams.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.
