Job Title:               Head of General Services / General Services Manager

Job Purpose

The Head of General Services is responsible for leading all non-mining operational activities, including camp management, site logistics, facility maintenance, catering, transportation, security, and administrative services. The objective is to provide a safe, high-quality living and working environment for staff while ensuring cost-effective support for operational departments. 

Core Responsibilities

  • Camp Management & Catering: Oversee site accommodation (camp) facilities, ensuring high standards of hygiene, sanitation, and accommodation services for employees. Manage catering contractors to provide high-quality food services.
  • Site Infrastructure Maintenance: Supervise the maintenance of buildings, roads, office facilities, water treatment plants, and recreational areas.
  • Logistics & Transportation: Manage staff transport, site vehicles, and logistical support for transporting personnel and goods to and from the site.
  • Security & Safety: Ensure the security of personnel, assets, and the site perimeter in compliance with company security protocols. Enforce safety standards in all general service areas, including fire protection and emergency response for buildings.
  • Budget & Cost Control: Develop and manage the annual budget for general services. Optimize operational costs, control spending, and prepare monthly expenditure reports.
  • Contractor Management: Supervise third-party service providers (cleaning, security, catering, maintenance), ensuring compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and safety standards.
  • Administrative Services: Oversee office management, procurement of camp consumables, and communication services at the site.
  • Community Liaison: Work with local authorities or communities on matters related to site logistics and services (e.g., local transportation). 

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Facilities Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience:

Minimum 7-10 years’ experience in general services or HR and Admin, with at least 5 years in a senior role.

  • Direct experience in a remote mining camp/mining industry is critical.
  • Certifications: Professional certifications in facilities management or safety are advantageous.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to liaise with senior management, contractors, and local communities.
  • Safety Focus: In-depth knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
