Job Purpose
We seek the services of a Senior Surveyor who will be responsible for delivering high-accuracy mine survey data, volumetric assessments and spatial analyses that support mine planning, production monitoring, reconciliation activities and operational decision making.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily, weekly and monthly volumetric surveys for stockpiles, pits, overburden, tailings and waste dumps.
- Use GNSS, total station, LiDAR, drones or other approved equipment to capture field data.
- Process survey data to produce accurate volume reports, 3D models, contour maps and mine layouts.
- Support mine production teams by providing pegging, setting out, alignment checks and boundary controls.
- Maintain up-to-date mine plans, survey records and spatial data repositories.
- Ensure statutory compliance with mine surveying and safety regulations.
- Perform periodic reconciliation between planned volumes and actual extraction or dumping.
- Calibrate and maintain all survey instruments and ensure proper usage across the team.
- Collaborate with Mine Planning, Geology and Operations for development and execution of mining plans.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma in Surveying, Geoinformatics, Mining Engineering or related field.
- Relevant professional certification or licensure is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in mine surveying or engineering surveying.
- Proven experience in volumetric surveys within a mining environment is required.
- Hands-on experience using survey software such as Surpac, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, Minesight, or similar.
Technical Competencies
- Strong proficiency with GNSS, total stations, drones and laser scanning tools.
- Ability to compute volumes, perform reconciliation and generate accurate survey reports.
- Good knowledge of coordinate systems, geodetic principles and mine survey regulations.
- Proficiency in data processing, 3D modelling and map production.
