Job Summary:
The Account Reconciliation Officer is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records by reconciling various accounts, identifying discrepancies, and resolving outstanding issues. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining accurate financial reporting and internal controls.
Job Responsibilities:
- Monitor all banking activities to detect irregularities.
- Perform monthly reconciliation reports regarding all SAP and Bank transactions.
- Perform reconciliation and verification of accounts regarding vendors’ accounts and bank accounts.
- Maintain constant contact with the company’s vendors on their transactions.
- Reconcile and rectify all General ledger accounts.
- Reconcile accounts that fall into receivable records with the sales invoices.
- Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and bi-annual management accounts.
- Adhere to corporate standards and procedures in all reconciliation activities.
- Improve personal skill set regarding software proficiency, financial analysis, and data processing.
- Track all inventories regularly and report to the line manager with the inventory records.
- Investigate all transactions to prevent fraud.
- Provide feedback to the accounting unit on how to improve on internal controls, and also pinpoint areas where risks relating to transactions can be minimized.
- Provide documentation to support all financial transactions.
- Reconcile and report discrepancies in different accounts.
- Assist auditors – internal and external – with the documentation required for the auditors to do their job satisfactorily
Qualifications:
- HND or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Relevant certifications such as ACA is an advantage
- Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in account reconciliation, bookkeeping, or accounting is preferred.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables).
- Experience with accounting software/ERP systems (e.g., SAP)
